Police said they have arrested five suspects over the lynching of two suspected kidnappers in Mushin, Lagos, on Wednesday.

Police spokesman in Lagos, ASP Olarinde Famous-Cole, confirmed the arrest on Thursday.

He said investigation was going on and all those implicated in the act would be prosecuted.

A suspected hideout of kidnappers was discovered in a tunnel at the Challenge area of Mushin.

Three suspects were found in the hideout but one had been burnt to death by a mob before the arrival of policemen.

The remaining two were rescued from the mob by the police, but one of them later died.

Eyewitnesses say the hideout used to be the sewerage tunnel of a now moribund company in the area.

Syringes and needles were also found in the hideout.
