The Governor of Rivers State, Siminalayi Fubara, has accused the Rivers State Police Command of taking sides against him in the political crisis rocking the state.

He made the allegation when he spoke with newsmen after an encounter with security operatives this morning.

This was after a police vehicle sprayed the Governor and his entourage with water and teargas and gunshots were also fired by some operatives.

The incident took place at the Rivers State House of Assembly Complex during a visit to the complex by Fubara following a fire outbreak at the Assembly yesterday night.

According to Fubara, he does not mind losing his life over the move to impeach him by the House, but burning the Assembly complex was not acceptable.

Speaking with newsmen, he said it was a sad development that nine years after the state overcame such political fracas, it was now rearing its head again.
