Eight members of the Rivers State House Of Assembly loyal to the state governor, Siminalayi Fubara, has impeached the Speaker, Rt. Hon. Martin Amaewhule.
The lawmakers elected Edison Ehie, the leader of the assembly earlier removed by the lawmakers loyal to FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike, as the new Speaker.
They also suspended the Chief Judge of the state, Justice Chibuzor Amadi, and asked the governor to appoint an acting chief judge.
The House of Assembly has 32 lawmakers.
