Suspected killers of Olalekan Ogunranti, the Managing Director, Today’s Prints Ltd, have been held, the police announced Tuesday.
Ogunranti was kidnapped on May 16, 2016 by unknown gunmen in Osun State.
Detectives found that he was killed by fraudsters who were trying to cover their tracks.
Police spokesman, DCP Don Awunah told Chief Detective in a statement that the acting Inspector-General of Police, Ibrahim Idris, on assumption of office ordered the Intelligence Response Team (IRT) of his Monitoring Unit to take over the matter and ensure the arrest of the culprits in record time.
“The Intelligence Response Team swung into action using all the technical resources of the Force available to them for the arrest of five prime suspects,” Awunah said.
The suspects were named as: Asimiyu Agboola, Adesina Meyidan, Ramoni Afolabi, Akeem Akorede, and Coker Daniel.
According to the police, 32-year-old Daniel led detectives to Ibukun River in Osun state, where the mutilated body of the late Olalekan Ogunranti was found and later deposited at LAUTECH Oshogbo.
Other suspects were arrested in Lagos and Ondo.
Awunah said: “All suspects confessed they kidnapped, killed and mutilated the body of the late Olalekan Ogunranti to stop him from disturbing them of huge sums of money they duped the deceased.”

Idris, according to Awunah, described the arrest of the suspects as a glaring evidence of the proactive nature of the Nigeria Police Force in the new dispensation. He assured Nigerians that the Police will always ensure the security of lives and property.
