Two gunshots from a mobile policeman (Mopol) silenced a man this morning in the Alimosho area of Lagos.

Some residents, near the scene of crime on Olowologbon Street in Alimosho, say the man was a suspected ‘Yahoo Boy’ who made N20million from internet fraud and the policeman wanted his share; other residents say that the victim had gone to meet a debtor who had police guards at Aristotle hotel on the street and he was shot twice in the chest during an argument.

According to them, the alleged debtor has been staying in the hotel for two years.

Lagos police spokesman, ASP Famous Cole, told Newsmakersng that the Commissioner of Police (CP) Fatai Owoseni had ordered the arrest of the policemen involved and they were facing orderly room trial at the command headquarters, Ikeja.

Cole however explained that the policemen were guarding a place in the area when they saw people who were having a dispute and they tried to mediate.

He said, “The policemen were trying to calm them down and there was an accidental discharge.”

The names of the victim and the policemen were not released as at press time.
