Artistes Performing During the Road Show

The ancient town of Ile-Ife witnessed colourful performances for the traditional monarch of the town, Oba Enitan Adeyeye Ogunwusi today, as theatre artistes celebrated his one year coronation anniversary with pomp.

Hundreds of performers under the aegis of Association of Nigeria Theatre-Arts Practitioners (ANTP) stormed the town in colourful costumes and did a roadshow in a decorated truck round historical roads and places within the town.

Appreciating the artistes, Oba Ogunwusi reiterated his call for unity among the Yoruba people and all tribes in Nigeria. He urged them to go about their business with honesty and team-spirit, to always embrace unity and make peace their watchword.

He however warned whoever plans to plant the seed of disunity in the association to desist, in order not to incur the wrath of Olodumare. He said should anyone try to derail the ANTP and its activities, element of survival – water, oil, salt and pepper would work against such people.

National President of the Association, Chief Jimoh Aliu said the Ooni had made his mark in the continued  effort to unite the Yoruba and also close the gap between them and other tribes. He said the ANTP was in support of the monarch’s activities, and would always appreciate him for restoring peace in the Association.

The 4-hour rally and road show round the town took off from the Ile Oodua, the Ooni of Ife’s palace at Enuwa, through Moore, Lagere and some historical places in the town.

Highlight of the day was the state by state theatrical performance for the Ooni and his guests by the ANTP members.

the artistes performance was supervised by the president, Chief Jimoh Aliu, Deputy President, Mr Baroka Oyadiran, and Alhaji Kareem Adepoju aka Baba Wande among others.
