Police authorities have redeployed Lagos State commissioner of police, Mr Imohimi Edgal.

NewsmakersNG learnt that Edgal was moved to the Force Headquarters in Abuja as the Commissioner of Police in charge of Explosives Ordinance Unit.

Mr Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun has been named as Edgal’s replacement in an acting capacity.

Born on September 4, 1964, Egbetokun, who hails from Erinja in Yewa (Egbado) South area of Ogun State, was the second officer to head the Rapid Response Squad (RRS) in Lagos (2005 – 2007) after the late Tunde Sobulo.


Egbetokun enlisted into the Nigeria Police Force on March 3, 1990, as a Cadet Assistant Superintendent of Police.

As a Deputy Superintendent of Police in 1999, he was appointed as the Chief Security Officer to Lagos State governor, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu.

He had also served as the Squadron Commander, Mopol 5, in Benin City; Officer-in-Charge, Anti-Fraud Unit, FCT Command, Abuja; Chief Superintendent of Police, Administration, Lagos State Command Head Quarters, Ikeja; Area Commander, Osogbo, Osun State Command, and Area Commander, Gusau, Zamfara State Command among several others.
