The Collective Movement (TCM), a socio-political advocacy group, has called for a strategic partnership with the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) to address urgent issues affecting students and youths across the country.
This call comes in the wake of recent alleged violent attacks on the NANS President, an incident that has sparked widespread concern over the safety, credibility, and stability of student leadership in Nigeria.
Speaking during a virtual meeting on Saturday, TCM founder, High Chief Franklin Ekechukwu, expressed deep concern over the implications of the alleged attacks, noting that they have raised serious questions about the motives behind the violence.
It will be recalled that the NANS President recently accused certain individuals—allegedly linked to the Presidency but holding no official positions—of bribery, abduction, and torture.
“These disturbing allegations have cast a shadow over the integrity of student leadership and highlight the need for unity and purposeful collaboration within NANS and among Nigerian youths,” Ekechukwu said.
In response, TCM is proposing a partnership aimed at strengthening student representation, advocating for student rights, and addressing broader socio-economic challenges, including education funding, infrastructure development, and youth empowerment.
“By working together, TCM and NANS can harness their collective strengths to foster positive change and promote the welfare of students and the larger society,” he stated.
Ekechukwu emphasized that such a partnership would not only reinforce the credibility of student leadership but also ensure students’ voices are heard and respected in national discourse.
He underscored the importance of open and transparent communication between both organizations to ensure effective coordination and successful implementation of joint initiatives.
“Our synergy can amplify the voices of Nigerian students, compelling relevant authorities to address their concerns. Together, we can tackle pressing issues and drive meaningful change,” Ekechukwu added.
He concluded by affirming that the collaboration would promote unity and stability within NANS, enabling student leaders to better represent the interests of their peers and contribute significantly to national development.
