The Palace of the Owa Obokun Adimula and Paramount Ruler of Ijesaland has unveiled a 10-day lineup of events leading to the grand coronation of His Imperial Majesty, Owa Clement Adesuyi Haastrup, Ajimoko III, as the 41st Owa of Ijesaland.

This was disclosed in a statement issued by Chief Shola Oshunkeye, Chairman of the Media and Publicity Sub-Committee of the Coronation Committee.

A respected statesman, former Deputy Governor of Osun State, and billionaire business magnate, Owa Haastrup was officially named successor to the late monarch, His Imperial Majesty Dr. Gabriel Adekunle Aromolaran II, on December 27, 2024.

According to the statement, the celebrations will commence on Friday, May 16, 2025, and culminate in a grand coronation ceremony on Friday, May 23, 2025 — all to be held in Ilesa, the cultural and spiritual heart of Ijesaland. The event promises an unforgettable display of royal pageantry and tradition.

Highlights of the Coronation Programme:

Friday, May 16: The festivities begin with a special Jumat service at Ilesa Central Mosque by 1pm.

Saturday, May 17: A vibrant cultural celebration holds at the newly refurbished Obokungbusi Hall from 10am to 4pm, followed by a grand Isese Night at the palace courtyard from 9pm.

Monday, May 19: Royal visits to various Ijesa zones will take place from 10am to 4pm.

Tuesday, May 20: The Owa Ajimoko III Ijesa Marathon kicks off at 7am, followed by the grand finale of the coronation football tournament, medal presentation, and awards at Ilesa Grammar School Sports Arena starting at 10am.

Wednesday, May 21: Orphanages across Ilesa will receive charitable visits from 10am. Later in the day, the Ijesa Mineral Resources Development Forum will host a video documentary screening and workshop at the University of Ilesa.

Thursday, May 22: The Ajimoko III Coronation Golf Kitty tees off at 8am, while a symposium and scholarship/empowerment programme hosted by the Ajimoko III Foundation follows at 11am at Royal Park International Hotel and Resort, Iloko-Ijesa.

Friday, May 23: The long-awaited coronation ceremony begins at 10am at the Owa’s Palace. By 1pm, a lavish reception featuring top-tier entertainment and royal hospitality will take place at Ilesa Grammar School.

Sunday, May 25: The week-long celebrations will conclude with an interdenominational thanksgiving service at Methodist Church, Otapete, Ilesa by 10am.

The statement assures that the entire programme has been meticulously planned to reflect the dignity, heritage, and unity of Ijesaland, as well as the distinguished legacy of the Owa throne.
