Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos State has urged Christian faithful to consider the fact that the current COVID-19 lockdown will not allow Easter services to hold in the state as necessary sacrifice for overall public good.
Sanwo-Olu in a series of tweets via his handle, @jidesanwoolu, also reminded Christians that that biggest lesson of Easter is the power of sacrifice.
He consequently advised Christians to stay at home during the Easter holiday and use the period to enjoy quality time with their families.
The governor tweeted, “The true meaning of #GoodFriday and #Easter is the power of sacrifice.
“This weekend, the sacrifice of staying at home and social distancing is required to stop the spread of #COVID19.
“Avoid fake news, the lockdown hasn’t been lifted. Think long term, #StayAtHomeAndStaySafe
“The Federal Government has announced a public holiday, do spend time with your loved ones AT HOME.
“We are thankful for technology, I will be worshipping virtually with my family on #Easter Sunday. Kindly say a prayer for all our health workers.”
