A former Chairman and current director of Wemabod Limited, Otunba Oluseyi Oduntan, has vowed to deepen his commitment to growth and development following his conferment with an honorary Doctorate Degree in Business by the University of America, Curacao (Netherlands and California, USA).
The ceremony took place yesterday at the University of Lagos’ Department of Creative Arts Hall, in partnership with ICLED Business School, Lekki.
Otunba Oduntan, who was decorated with the degree alongside other distinguished professionals, described the honour as a renewed call to service in a world where knowledge must drive sustainable progress.
Speaking on behalf of the awardees, he said the degree from the globally recognised institution affirmed the importance of value creation and community empowerment in business.
“This honour inspires me to continue advancing these ideals, leveraging knowledge and experience to support growth and development in our interconnected world,” Oduntan said during his acceptance speech, delivered with poise and conviction.

The award was presented by Professor Wole Familoni on behalf of the university, while Professor (Mrs) Olajumoke Familoni, Director of ICLED Business School, played a leading role in organising the event.
A recipient of the national honour, Officer of the Order of the Niger (OON), and the traditional title of Otunba Osigade of Ijebuland, Otunba Oduntan is widely respected for his philanthropic impact in education and grassroots development. He is a fellow of the Chartered Institute of Marketing (UK) and a member of the Chartered Institute of Directors, Nigeria.
His public service record includes a stint as Senior Technical Adviser to the Federal Ministry of Defence and roles on several influential boards, including the Ogun State Judicial Service Commission.
Other honourees at the ceremony included: legal luminary Mudiaga Nwachukwu, veteran engineer Engr. Adebayo Afeez Balogun, petroleum law expert Charles Ikechukwu Nwachukwu, and aviation professional Olumide Kolapo Osineye.
