Breaking: Police Secure Release of Kidnapped Lagos Students in Ondo

After spending 64 days in kidnappers den, six students abducted at a Lagos school on May 25 have been set free today, says police authorities.

The students were abducted by gunmen on the school premises at Lagos State Model College, Igbonla, in Epe area of the state two days to the annual Children’s Day celebration.

The six boys were identified as Peter Jonah, Isiaq Rahmon, Adebayo George, Judah Agbausi, Pelumi Phillips, and Farouq Yusuf.

The students breathing the air of freedom today in Ondo.

According to the police, they were handed over to officials of the school at about 3pm today, at a place called Ajakpa, in Ese Odo Local Government Area of Ondo State.

Newsmakers learnt that the kidnappers had asked for N160million ransom to release the students,  but the parents offered N2million on each student during the negotiations.  It was rejected.

The police, however, did not mention how much was finally paid to secure the release of the students.

Meanwhile, Newsmakers also learnt that the acting President, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo, has directed the police to bring the boys to Abuja for proper medicare.
