For over three decades, Mrs. Omolola Taiwo Adeoye has done more than just preserve Nigeria’s historical records—she has lived a life worthy of recording.

As she takes her final bow from the public service, colleagues, friends, and dignitaries are gathering not just to mark her retirement, but to celebrate a woman whose life has exemplified unwavering commitment, spiritual depth, and compassionate leadership.

On Thursday, May 8, the usually quiet halls of the National Archives, Ibadan Zonal Office, will resound with tributes and heartfelt appreciation as the esteemed former Head of the Zonal Office and Assistant Director is honoured in a grand retirement ceremony. The event, set for 12 noon within the University of Ibadan campus, is expected to draw senior government officials, archivists, scholars, and the cream of Nigerian society.

The Planning Committee Chairperson, Mrs. Yewande Omotade, described Mrs. Adeoye as a symbol of grace and resilience.

“She’s not just retiring; she’s triumphantly closing a chapter that many never had the chance to finish. We’re celebrating her health, her legacy, and the God who saw her through it all,” Omotade said.

Born on April 1, 1965, in Abeokuta, Ogun State, Omolola Adeoye’s journey began with a strong Christian upbringing and a disciplined home life that would shape her future. A proud alumna of Ikeja Grammar School, she went on to earn her NCE from the Ogun State College of Education and later a BA in English and Educational Technology from the University of Port-Harcourt.

She joined the Federal Ministry of Information and Culture in 1992, eventually transferring to the National Archives. Her rise through the ranks was marked by excellence, culminating in her leadership of the Port Harcourt office and later, the Ibadan Zonal Office in 2023.

But Mrs. Adeoye’s legacy extends far beyond her titles. A devoted wife to Deacon Aderemi Adeoye and loving mother and grandmother, she balanced family life with her demanding career, while remaining an active worker in the Church. Her colleagues speak of a woman who led with kindness, upheld integrity, and mentored many with a mother’s heart.

“She didn’t just manage archives—she nurtured people, she prayed with us, she showed us how to lead with humility,” one colleague said.

Mrs. Adeoye has passed the baton to Mr. Wale Ogundipe, the new Head of the Ibadan Zonal Office.

Anchored by MC Kunle Bademosi and broadcast live by Apreel1 Events TV, Mrs Adeoye’s send-forth promises to be as graceful and impactful as the woman it celebrates.
